Competition Rules
These rules govern all competitions organized as part of Yerevan Open. By registering for a competition, each participant accepts these rules, the Terms & Conditions, the Code of Conduct, and the instructions of the Organizer, event staff, and judging panel.
Scope
These Competition Rules apply to all competitions organized as part of Yerevan Open. By registering for a competition, each participant accepts these Rules, the Terms & Conditions, the Code of Conduct, and the instructions of the Organizer, event staff, and judging panel.
Eligibility and Categories
Participants must meet the eligibility requirements published for the relevant competition. Categories may include:
— Dance style (e.g., salsa, bachata, kizomba, other)
— Format (solo, couple, team, jack & jill, social dance, other)
— Age group (junior, adult, senior, or specific age ranges)
— Level (beginner, intermediate, advanced, professional, or published level definitions)
The Organizer may request proof of age, identity, level, or other eligibility information. A participant who registers in an incorrect category may be moved to another category or disqualified where the error affects fair competition.
Registration and Entry Fees
Registration must be completed through the registration method/link by the deadline. Each participant must provide accurate information and, where required, register with a partner or team members.
The entry fee is the amount and currency per participant/couple/team. Payment is due by the deadline. An entry is confirmed only after the required information and payment have been received.
Entry fees are subject to the Refund & Cancellation Policy and applicable mandatory law.
Music and Performance Requirements
Participants must submit music through the submission method by the deadline. The required file format is the specified format, with a maximum duration.
Music must be suitable for a public event and must not contain unlawful, discriminatory, hateful, or threatening material. Participants must be ready at the call time announced by the Organizer.
Competition Procedure
The competition may consist of one or more rounds, including qualification, preliminary rounds, semifinals, finals, or improvised/social-dance rounds. The Organizer will publish the schedule and format before or during the event.
Judging Criteria
Unless a category-specific document states otherwise, the judging panel may consider:
— Musicality and timing
— Technique and execution
— Lead and follow or partner connection
— Interpretation and creativity
— Body movement and styling
— Partnership and teamwork
— Suitability to the selected dance style
— Respect for space, safety, and other participants
Judges and Conflicts of Interest
The Organizer will appoint the judging panel for each category. A judge must disclose any relevant conflict of interest to the Organizer.
Safety and Fair Play
Participants must dance safely, respect personal boundaries, and follow instructions from the Organizer and staff.
Dangerous lifts, intentional collisions, aggressive physical contact, harassment, discrimination, intoxication, cheating, and manipulation of results are prohibited.
Appeals and Complaints
A participant may submit an appeal concerning an administrative error, eligibility decision, or procedural irregularity in writing within the specified number of hours after the relevant result or decision is announced.
An appeal must identify the participant, category, decision, facts, and requested remedy. A disagreement with the judges' artistic assessment alone is not sufficient grounds to overturn a result.
Prizes and Awards
Prizes, certificates, and other awards are described on the competition page or announced before the relevant final. Prizes are personal to the winner unless the Organizer expressly permits transfer.
Photography and Recording
The Organizer or authorized media partners may photograph, film, or record competitions for event documentation, promotion, broadcasting, and archival purposes in accordance with the Privacy Policy and applicable law.
Changes and Cancellation
The Organizer may change the schedule, category format, judging panel, venue, or other operational details when reasonably necessary.
If a competition or Festival is cancelled or materially changed, the remedies available to participants are governed by the Refund & Cancellation Policy and applicable law.
